Each month the students at the elementary school take on an initiative to make our community a better place. For the month of November they participated in a "Souper Bowl" food drive. The food drive became a competition between the two hallways with the PK-1st graders going up against the 2nd-4th graders.

Students could bring in non-perishable items for the local food bank LIFT, placing them in large cans with Souper Bowl labels on them. Each week an progress update was posted to see which hallway was in the lead. The PK-1st grade hallway started with a small lead the first week, and kept that lead all the way until the last week. On the last week the 2nd-4th graders pulled through taking a large lead to win the Souper Bowl and earning an ice cream treat.

The kids had a great time participating and competing in a friendly competition, while helping their community. The final count of items donated was 1,328 items coming in at 1,188 pounds of food to go to LIFT.graph showing 2nd-4th bringing more items than pk-1st and large soup can
